“We are helping our local youth & Community Departments to devise new ways to develop and deliver modern Youth & Community work in the area”

The Transforming Youth Work grant enabled the Club to open a new office space and hire a Development Co-ordinator and PA to Management to support the club and manage the different partnerships and projects it is involved with.

Under Transforming Youth Work, we are helping our local Youth & Community Service to devise new ways to develop and deliver modern Youth & Community work in the area.

We have recently installed mini-satellite Cyber Cafes at the Prince Phillip Centre, the Mandela Centre and Palace Youth Project, which are running well. transforming_youth_work1.jpg

Another project designed to capacity build young people, and especially the Clubs young management committee members, volunteers and project-users are the 3 weekend residentials over the 2003/4 period. At these weekend residentials, young people learned about different government and voluntary sector programmes geared towards young people, such as Connexions, volunteering, committee work. They also took part in education and training programmes.
The main object of the residential will be to empower and enable young people to be effective citizens, to manage the Club so it continues to grow and benefit young people, and to take up volunteering or paid work with other voluntary sector organisations, Youth & Community work departments, CAB’s, and on Connexions programmes among others.
